What is a Shiloh Shepherd?
Shiloh Shepherds are a rare breed developed in the early 1970s in the United States. They are versatile, excellent family companions known for their intuition, gentle nature, and impressive stature. They have been bred specifically for a larger size and a calmer, less drive-y, more easygoing temperament than a German Shepherd, making them exceptional partners for a variety of families. Extensive health testing is a vital, core tenant of our breed, and we put our dogs first, no matter what. Temperament
Calm, confident, and highly social. They are naturally protective yet incredibly gentle with children and other pets.

Brave is our first Shiloh, a 5 year old male brown sable who wants to be everybody's best friend and has never met a stranger. He has great play drive but an even better off switch, and excels as a therapy dog. His temperament is what made me fall in love with the breed!
Grimm is a beautiful, solid black 2 year old male with a heart the size of Texas and the height to match! He is a very large boy, but is also extremely calm and gentle, with a steady intuition and peaceful presence.
Cordelia is our first female, an up-and-coming almost 2 year old who is a complete social butterfly, and loves snuggling and getting cozy more than anything. She is very intelligent and knows how to convince you to do what she wants, and make you think it was your idea! That sweet face is a reflection of her pure heart.
Omen is our resident baby, another solid black male (albeit a little acceptable white patch on his chest) who is bounding with energy and has an undeniable zest for life! He will be health tested at 2 years of age but will spend time growing up and just being a baby first.

The Journey Home
Step 1: Application
We have a thorough application process to ensure every prospective home is prepared for the unique needs of Shiloh Shepherds. You must read our "About the Breed" page and FAQ's before submitting an application. We conduct a necessary, detailed assessment of your lifestyle, experience, and commitment to providing a safe, loving environment for your new companion.
Step 2: Phone Conversation
If we have a litter coming up soon and we think based upon your application that you may be a good fit for a Hawk Ridge Shiloh, we will reach out for a phone conversation so we can get to know each other and talk a little more in depth about what exactly you are looking for. We also want to ensure you understand the process and can make an informed decision for yourself. We are more than happy to recommend other avenues and support you even if it is not the right fit at that moment in your life!
Step 3: Deposit & Waitlist
Once contact is established, we will put you on a waiting list for any potential upcoming litters. No puppies will be guaranteed until the litter is born. Once they are born, we will reach out to solidify your commitment and send over our contract, at which time a deposit of $500 will be made as a placeholder for your puppy. The remainder will be due upon picking up your puppy at 8 weeks of age. Once deposit is made and contract signed, the countdown begins! We will post pictures weekly of the litter and a little update on our page as often as we can.
Step 4: Taking Your Puppy Home
Before puppies go home we host a virtual meeting we call "Pre-Puppy Send Home" where we discuss various puppy topics and ways to set your puppy up for success in the home. We want to help make this process as smooth and as easy as possible! We require that all of our owners pick up their puppy at our home in Pennsylvania. We do also require all of our puppies to be heart holter monitored between the ages of 5-12 months of age, so we will keep in contact for that. Learn more about that in our "About the Breed" tab! We want our puppy owners to be like family, so we will always be available for questions, concerns, and support throughout the lifetime of your puppy. We encourage continued contact after you bring your puppy home, and we always love hearing how well they are doing!
